Eco Club's Green Fingers

March is a lovely time of year to get the green fingers out! Our HPS Eco Club have doing just that, they have harvested lots of lovely rhubard from our school vegetable garden and have planted carrots, parsnips, lettuce and parsley seeds . They also spread some ‘bee bombs’ of wild flower seeds in the planters by the P2 Island to encourage biodiversity! Keep up the great work Eco warriors!

To celebrate World Book Day 2022 the staff had a lot of fun dressing up as ‘Wally’ from the famous Where’s Wally book. You didn’t ever have to look too far to spot some red or white stripes!

Engines off Prevent the Cough

P5 have been taking part in a borough initiative learning about air pollution and in particular cars idling outside school grounds. Room 8 completed a survey to investigate how many cars sit with their engines idling. We all created posters for the initiative and entered them for the local competition.

P6 Pupil Donates Hair to Little Princess Trust

Congratulations to P6 pupil Zara for donating her hair to Little Princess Trust. What an amazing act of kindness Zara, well done!

Zara has written an account of her experience…

Before I got my hair cut off and donated it to Little Princess Trust, my mum tried to find somewhere to cut my hair but everywhere was booked out. It was getting to the stage where it was really really long! My mum suggested donating it to Little Princess Trust. I had a long hard think about it and it took days for me to decide but finally I said that is what I shall do.

I got really nervous about it as the day of the cut came nearer and nearer. There was still the option not to do it, but I had my mind made up. About a year before the cut I was going to do it but I got cold feet and decided not to so I was worried that would happen again. My mum didn’t think I would do it, but the day came and I did! I was very proud and I hope the girl who gets my hair is happy.

Ganaway Getaway

P7 had a great time visiting Ganaway last week. The boys and girls all did really well and everyone gave everything a go which was very impressive! (Some of us even conquered our fear of heights!)

The zipline was a huge hit but lots of fun was also had on the rock climbing wall, the ropes course and the crate stack challenge!

Intergenerational Project with Newcroft Lodge Care Home

To help keep the generations connected this Christmas, HPS recorded songs and talent shows and made festive stained glass windows, as well as Christmas cards and paper chains for the residents of Newcroft Lodge Care Home. It was a lovely project for all involved and we hope the residents enjoy the videos and crafts as much as we did making them!
