H.P.S Rugby at the Kingspan Stadium

The H.P.S Rugby Squad travelled to Ravenhill today to play in the Ulster Rugby Primary School Festival. They played some fantastic rugby over 3 games and scored some great tries.

They then got the opportunity to get a tour around the changing rooms and, thanks to Rudy’s dad, they even got to visit the gym.

Many thanks again to all the parent volunteers for helping with transport and for cheering us on throughout the year.

It is a been a pleasure coaching this group of players throughout the year and I hope they all continue to play rugby at their new schools.

Final Football League Fixtures

Yesterday the HPS Football Team competed in their final league fixtures! The team have had some amazing results this season and went 9 games unbeaten! The football at times was a joy to watch and they left everything on the field!

Although the league campaign didn’t end how we would have hoped the team should be immensely proud of their achievements and efforts this season!

Hampered with injuries the team succumbed to defeats to league winners Ballymagee, league runners up Kilmaine and St Comgall’s in what were all very tightly contested matches.

A huge well done to all the footballers in what has been another fun filled season of football!

PLAYER OF THE DAY was awarded to Tate for his dominant performances in the midfield and 3 brilliant solo goals!

TEAM: James R, Fraser, James C, Luke, Peter, Cade, Tate and Rudy.

Winning House Crest Design

The P5-P7 classes took part in another competition to earn not only points for their House but also the accolade of designing their own House Crest to be displayed in school. Pupils had to work independently to get creative and design their own House Crest that they felt best represented their House and its values that they themselves could choose.

Each Crest had to incorporate their Houses Colours and also some values they believe their House should uphold. (e.g. kindness, sportsmanship, loyalty, trust etc). Once all the designs were completed the House and Sports Captains had to select the top 10 crest designs from their represented Houses which they felt were the best which proved to be a very difficult decision as lots of the entries were of a very high standard! The House and Sports Captains worked diligently together as a team to fairly rank and order all the entries for their House which they brought to Mr Atcheson who selected a winner from each House to be displayed on the House Competitions board. A prize was also given to the best House Crest Design overall and they were also awarded 80 House Points!

Well done to all involved in what was a very difficult competition to judge.

The OVERALL WINNER goes to CHARLEY in P6 from the BLUE HOUSE with her amazing artistic design! Well done!

The House Competition is well and truly heating up with Sports Week, the House Sports competitions and many other fun events already underway in Term 3!

New gardening equipment for HPS

Ards and North Down council parks department have kindly given HPS some new tools and gardening equipment as part of their Growing Club scheme. P4, Room 14 enjoyed meeting Ryan today, an expert gardener from the council. He came with the new equipment and helped us prepare the polytunnel for growing some fruit and vegetables this Spring. We look forward to working more with Ryan in the coming months.
