HPS Eco Committee 2022- 2023

Each class from P4-7 have elected their Eco Committee representative. The committee will work closely with Mrs McKeown towards our Eco Schools Green Flag award and will be involved in promoting enviromental initiatives in our school. Pupils who were interested in the role in each class had an opportunity to share why they felt they would be suitable for the post before the class voted. We are really pleased to have the following pupils onboard our committee for this academic year.

P7 - Evan (R12) and Emily (R11)

P6 - Natasha (R13), Ella (R10) and Marnie (R9)

P5 - Kate (R8) and Eden (R7)

Let's Connect and Code

Some P3 pupils from both Holywood Primary School and Glencraig Integrated Primary School enjoyed using the new E.A.R.L coding robots as part of the Shared Education Programme. Everyone loved the different mats and being able develop their own algorithms to complete a number of challenges.

Holywood Girls Crowned Cricket Champions!

Holywood had another fantastic day out competing in the Holywood Cricket Tournament down at Seapark today. This time it was the girls turn to showcase their cricket skills. A total of 23 girls across P6-P7 were selected as part of the girls cricket squad. The teams competed in 2 groups against teams from Penrhyn, Gilnahirk and The Barbarians (a team put together using players from other schools).

The girls were excellent in their attitude and application and played some superb cricket throughout the course of the tournament. There were some magical moments of brilliance behind the bat combined with some outstanding teamwork when fielding.

SQUAD: Martha, Katie, Sophia, Clara, Amber, Isobel, Ruby, Eve, Susannah, Maia, Scarlett, Sarah, Molly, Hannah, Holly, Ellie, Erin, Maisie, Mia, Emma, Bronagh, Mimi and Lucy

Holywood Team 1

Won by 18 runs vs Penrhyn 1

Won by 50 runs vs Penrhyn 2

Holywood Team 2

Won by 2 runs vs Gilnahirk

Won by 23 runs vs Penrhyn 2

After both teams dominant performances in the groups Holywood Team 1 progressed to the finals where they faced Penrhyn 1 and Holywood Team 2 progressed to play Penrhyn 2. After two great action packed games Holywood emerged victorious and as tournament CHAMPIONS! A massive well done to the entire girls cricket squad for their achievements and efforts! A big thank you again to Mrs Harper who was the school representative on the day and for all the support and help from the parent helpers too. A big thank you to Holywood Cricket Club for organising and hosting the tournament which I’m sure will last long in the memories of all the girls who took part!
