'Pack Up Your Troubles' P4 WW2 Trip to Castle Ward

P4 had a great day on Wednesday on their trip to Castle Ward. They went back in time to May 1945 the day after the war was over and met different characters including Agnes the land girl, Polly the Cook and Sadie the Nursery maid. They learnt about life for Margaret and John the evacuees who were evacuated to Castle Ward during the war. They planted beans as part of the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign, played with old toys in the nursery, packed the evacuee’s suitcase and came across some usual war time recipes in the kitchen including vinegar cake and carrot cookies! It was a fantastic day out and we would like to say a big thank you to all the parent volunteers who came along! ~

Christmas Crackers!

P7 spent the morning making some Victorian Christmas crackers.

Inside is a Christmas treat and a festive joke:

What do snowmen ride to work on? Icicles!

Why does Santa have three gardens? So he can ho ho ho!

What do elves in love eat for breakfast? Mistletoast!

What do elves learn at school? The elf-a-bet!

A Firefighter visits P2.

As part of our People Who Help Us Topic, James the Firefighter came to visit P2.  He told us all about his job and showed us his uniform.  We had lots of questions for him too.  Some of the children in P2 think they would like to be a Firefighter when they grow up!

When the Iron Men came to visit

The P7 year group had a great day on Friday displaying their Iron Man homeworks. They built some incredible looking Iron Men, using a variety of resources, with the Iron Men coming in all shapes and sizes. They have created an army of Iron Men that are now standing guard in the school foyer.
