Heidi (P7) came 3rd in Tumbling in the Northern Ireland Schools gymnastics championships in Newry. She competed against 19 other schools and back flipped her way to a bronze medal!

Belfast Music Festival success for Kathryn !
We were delighted to hear some great news about Kathryn (P6). Kathryn entered the solo brass section in the Belfast Music Festival and won the trophy for her level. ( Wow, the trophy is so big!)
The piece Kathryn played on her cornet was the theme from Star Wars. CONGRATULATIONS KATHRYN. You should be very proud of yourself.
Blue Peter Badge for Naomi
Congratulations to Naomi ( P3). Naomi was very excited when she opened her post. Inside was a very special badge that had been sent by Blue Peter! Naomi had drawn a great picture of one of the presenters and was commended for her talent.

It's a podium finish for Emmy.
Congratulations to P7 pupil Emmy who recently ran in an International Cross Country race and came a very close 3rd. It was a competitive race with children and adult runners from all over the UK. There were even a few Gold Medal Olympic Kenyans there.

Maia receives a Blue Peter Badge!
One afternoon Maia was visiting the School Office. We noticed she was wearing a bright purple Blue Peter Badge. We were all very interested to hear how she got it as we had NEVER got one when we were younger and had always wanted one!
Maia got the Blue Peter badge for writing a review of the programme. She told them that her favourite part was when a boy did some football tricks. Maia hopes to get another badge. Maybe it will be a green or blue one the next time.

Smokey's on stage at the Grand Opera House
Well done to Smokey (P5) who is performing in the pantomime Cinderella at the Grand Opera House this year. Smokey has been involved in the pantomime over a number of years and really enjoys performing. Look out for him if you are going to see the pantomime over Christmas!
Ruan races to victory!
Congratulations to Ruan ( P5) who won a gold medal in the under 8s freestyle at a recent gala hosted in Bangor for all swimming clubs in County Down.
Ruan has also has been selected to represent Bangor in their Aquasprint team. Very well done Ruan. Keep it up.
Arianna skates to success!
Well done to Arianna (P3) who was delighted to win a bronze medal in her ice skating competition.
Charley wins silver!
Congratulations to Charley (P6) who recently participated in Holywood Music Festival. Charley sang a song from a Musical Show called 'I'm late' and was delighted to be told she was commended for her performance and to get placed second. Well done Charley!
Jay steps on to the turf at the Kingspan Stadium!
There was much excitement for Jay (P3) when he had the opportunity to be the mascot at the home of Ulster Rugby. Jay met some of the Barbarian players before running onto the pitch in front of thousands of spectators as the Barbarians got ready to play Fiji. Well done Jay!

This is Angharad (P7) trampolining for Northern Ireland at the UK regional team finals held in the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham over the Bank Holiday weekend on 28th and 29th May.

Singing success!
Congratulations to Niamh (P5) who has received some great news!
Niamh loves singing, both in the School Choir and the Parish Choristers. She recently attended a selection workshop for the Phil Kids, part of the Belfast Philharmonic Choir, and was delighted to be selected to join their Phil Kids Choir. She will start training with the choir in September. Niamh is so excited, she could sing, and sing, and sing!

PTA Mighty Marathon runners
A huge well done to both our Marathon Relay Teams who competed and completed the Belfast Marathon 2016.
The times were amazing......3 hours 33 minutes for the men and 3 hours 25 minutes for the ladies.

Megan passes ballet exam with Distinction
Megan was very pleased to hear that she had passed her Level 1 Ballet exam with Distinction. She even had time to demonstrate some of her ballet dancing when she visited Mrs Crookshanks to tell her the good news. Congratulations Megan (P3).
Ruzi & Heidi perform at UK Gymnastic Finals
Congratulations to Ruzi and Heidi who were finalists in in BSGA (British Schools Gymnastics Association) Competition.
Following their gold medal success in the NI Finals, Heidi and Ruzi travelled to England over the Bank Holiday weekend to represent HPS in the all UK Finals - Under 11s Floor Routine category.
It was quite a daunting occasion for the girls, walking out into a huge arena with a large crowd and up against the winners from schools representing 14 regions right across the UK. They performed fantastically well and did the school proud, finishing fifth overall; a great achievement. WELL DONE GIRLS
NI Under 15 Basketball success
Congratulations to Harry (P7) who is part of the Northern Ireland U15 wheelchair basketball team.They recently participated in the Lord's Taverners British Wheelchair Basketball Junior League Finals, held in the University of Worcester Arena. The team won the competition overall and are now the British champions! Harry and the team were presented with individual gold medals and a team perpetual trophy and a presentation crystal trophy. WELL DONE!!
