Success at the North Down Athletics Championships!

Over the past week 18 boys and girls from P5-P7 have competed in a number of track and field events in the North Down Athletics Championships. On Monday and Wednesday all pupils competed in the heats of each of the events to qualify for the finals on Friday. A total of 12 pupils represented Holywood Primary School in the finals today held at Bangor Sportsplex with great success! Holywood came away with a total of 11 medals (5 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronze) and the boys won the Besant Shield for the school with the most points accumulated at the end of the Championships! 1st Place! What an amazing achievement!

Well done to all the boys and girls involved for a fantastic display of athleticism and sportsmanship all round!

  • Matthew Lockington - Gold in the 100m Sprint and Silver in the 50m Sprint.

  • Omar Binder - Bronze in both the 50m and 100m Sprint.

  • Lucas McKeown - Gold in the Cricket Ball Throw.

  • Freddy Raduva - Silver in the Cricket Ball Throw.

  • Alana Thornton - Gold in the 100m Sprint and Cricket Ball Throw, Silver in the 50m Sprint.

  • Roger McMullan - Gold in the 100m Sprint and Silver in the 75m Sprint.

East Down Rugby Tournament

On Wednesday 10th April the Rugby Club attended their first tournament of the year. The sun wasn’t the only thing shining as the P6 and P7 boys put in some terrific performances against some tough opposition. 

They played six matches winning three, drawing one and losing two.

Pupils of the Term

Well done to a number of pupils who have shown acts of kindness which were noted by various members of staff and visitors to the school.

Kendal  P7

Kendal has been a great help each morning in Breakfast Club which is really appreciated by Mrs Forster & Mrs Nelson.

Betty P2

Betty was extremely helpful when she noticed that someone had left their lunchbox in the playground and she made sure they got it back.

Joshua P7

Joshua was complimented by the staff of Glencraig IPS for his thoughtful behaviour towards a pupil from their school during one of the P7 Shared Education Days.

Toby & Lucas P5

Both Toby and Lucas were so enthusiastic during Spanish Club and regularly helped to tidy up each week. Gracias from Señorita Armstrong & Señora Gibson.

Lennox P6

Not only is Lennox a great playground Buddy, he was very honest when he handed in money that he found in the playground. 

Darcy  P6

Well done to Darcy for helping a P1 pupil when he fell and cut his head. Darcy know what to do and immediately got Mrs Carson to help.  

Erin P4

Erin is very helpful in the Dining Hall without being asked. She always does it with a smile on her face too!
