Both Primary 7 pupils thoroughly enjoyed the recent visits from Smallworld. Thanks to Stephanie and her team for joining us at HPS.
The hosts introduced themselves and answered questions about their life stories and their reasons for coming to Northern Ireland.
The children were engaged throughout the workshops getting insight into how it is like growing up in a different part of the world, having a different culture or religious background, a different environment or climate.
They openly shared what it was like
· living far away from family and friends
· challenges of being new to Northern Ireland
· different reasons for moving to NI
During the workshop there were opportunities for the children and staff to get a fresh perspective to
· help overcome fear and mistrust of those seen as ‘different’
· addresses misunderstandings and myths
· foster respect, trust and empathy
· bring similarities between people to light
Sincere thanks to all those who took part in the workshop.
