This week Anna Killen from NI Water came in to meet with the HPS Eco committee. She took time to discuss with the committee the impact of single use plastics on our environment and in particular marine life. The pupils were shocked to learn that there are more bits of plastic in the sea than stars in the galaxy! She has presented us with a reusable BPA free bottle for every pupil in the school. The committee plan to come round and survey classes after the Easter break to evaluate the current use of reusable bottles. They plan to raise awareness within the school of the impact of single use water bottles and will give out the free bottles in early May. We would love to see the whole school getting on board and cutting down our use of single use plastics! A big thank you to NI Water for their generous donation!
