Football vs Glencraig P.S & Ballymagee P.S

Holywood visited Spafield on what was a beautiful day to play their final two league fixtures against Glencraig P.S and Ballymagee P.S.

First up were Glencraig who opened up the fixtures with a solid 2-0 victory over Ballymagee. Holywood from the off took the game straight to Glencraig with some great passing cutting through the opposition defence, however Glencraig managed to get bodies behind the ball and dampen any early threats. The boys continued to apply pressure and got their reward with a superb strike by Zak D followed by another well taken goal again by Zak shortly after. Glencraig continued to move the ball well going forward but thanks to solid defence at the back by both Zach W and Danny any attacks on goal were quickly snuffed out. Matthew and Ollie controlled the middle of the park with their composure on the ball and dictated the pace in which the game was played. Charlie was a constant threat in front of goal and powered his way forward to assist Zak for another goal. Darcy and Ben both came off the bench in the 2nd half to an immediate impact in supplying Zak with his 4th goal of the game. Glencraig had some late opportunities but thanks to some super saves by Hamish Holywood maintained their clean sheet. Holywood eventually ran out eventual 4-0 winners on what was a great display of football all round!

RESULT: HPS 4 - 0 GLENCRAIG (Zak D x 4)

Next up were Ballymagee who had just come off the back of a defeat and within the opening minute fell behind to a fantastic volley by Zak. Holywood were able to dominate the possession against a slightly weakened Ballymagee outfit and moved the ball well with some great one touch passing. Holywood created more opportunities in front of goal that fell to both Darcy and Charlie who saw the back of the net with both their strikes. Ballymagee had some great attempts on the counter attack that almost had them on the score board only for some unbelievable saves from Hamish in goal; tipping a great strike onto the post and saving well with his feet in a one on one. Holywood were clinical in the final third and Darcy scored the goal of the day with a long range drive that nestled into the bottom corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Zak managed to grab a late brace to give himself another hat trick and finish off the game. All the boys played exceptionally and some of the football on show was a joy to watch!

RESULT: HPS 6 - 0 BALLYMAGEE (Zak D x 3, Darcy x 2, Charlie x 1)

Well done to the whole squad for all their hard work and a great league campaign winning all four of their games scoring 15 goals and only conceding 2.

SQUAD: Charlie, Zak D, Matthew, Oliver, Darcy, Ben, Zach W, Danny and Hamish
