Today Holywood went into another tough league fixture this time against Crawfordsburn P.S. Both these teams met previously in the season at the Priory Cup in which Holywood ran out eventual 4-2 winners in what was a hard fought match. Crawfordsburn came to Spafield with a point to prove and created some early chances evening hitting the woodwork with a long range strike. After riding the storm in the earlier phases Holywood applied some of their own pressure on the opposition goal with some great link up play between Charlie and Oliver K which resulted in a well saved strike from Zak D by the opposition keeper. The boys continued to move the ball well with Darcy and Danny both showing some great footwork and composure on the ball. The boys went into the half all square but remained positive after just missing out on taking the lead on a number of occasions. Ben immediately made an impact when he came on with his tireless work rate and movement off the ball. The game was hanging in the balance and was end to end with both teams having a share of the possession but Zach W continued to extinguish any threat on goal by applying continual pressure and winning every loose ball. Holywood finally broke through late into the 2nd half after a good counter attack was well finished by a precise finish into the bottom corner by Charlie! Crawfordsburn threw everything they had in the final moments but thanks to some super saves from Hamish and some well rounded defending as a team unit Holywood edged a very tough game 1-0. Well done to all the boys involved for a great game of football that was played in the right spirit.
