Annual Ashfield Football Tournament

Congratulations to the eighteen boys and girls who represented Holywood PS at this years Ashfield Football tournament. By fielding two teams in the competition it enabled many P6 and P7 pupils the opportunity to represent the school for the very first time.

The B team found themselves drawn in a group against very tough opposition but shone with some great performances recording an impressive win and two well earned draws. Unfortunately they just missed out on the playoff places but did their school and themselves more than proud with their performances and attitude throughout.

On a very cold morning the A team got off to a slow start but were soon firing on all cylinders, recording 4 consecutive wins in their final 4 games in the group stages with some impressive performances. After winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 1 Holywood found themselves narrowly missing out on top spot in the group but advanced into the semi finals of the trophy competition. Unfortunately they lost 2-0 to eventual winners Strandtown PS after some very good football. Well done to everyone! The boys and girls had a fun filled morning and a massive thank you to all parents who offered their time to help make today possible with providing lifts and supervision. Thank you also to the parents who came to support and cheer both teams on! The hot chocolate was a welcome treat on a cold winters morning! :)
